'The Canal Bridge' Cross Stitch

Continuing with the cross stitch trend that appears in a number of my posts, I have completed yet another! I stumbled upon this cross stitch at the beginning of the year and it caught my eye because of the alternative styling, compared to the other designs on display.

The design is adapted from the painting named 'The Canal Bridge' by L.S.Lowry and I feel that the colours used, really reflect that of the painting, with the muddy tones and hints of bright colour.

I enjoyed doing this cross stitch because there wasn't too much backstitch involved once the cross stitch element had been finished, however these touches of backstitch really add much needed detail to the piece.
